Ping G400 driver
Think of the driver of the Ping G400 as a smoother, juiced-up variant of the G driver of last season, since it shares some of the key technology of that club. But due to a number of incremental changes, the G400 offers further ball speed and distance while losing none of the forgiveness. Ping ‘s senior concept engineer, Marty Jertson, said that improved aerodynamics can be credited to a large portion of the distance increases, resulting in increased clubhead speed.

Does It Perform?
PING, like any OEM, has statistics that show that its drivers can outperform their rivals. On average, the G400 was longer than the new industry leader in PING’s player checking. Perhaps of greater significance, the G400 created a 40 percent smaller stat area (what we call our shot area), and the shortest shots (mis-hits) were slightly longer than mis-hits from competitors. Rarely, if ever, has my ball speed surpassed 155 MPH. This refers to any driver I’ve ever seen. I’ve struck balls a time or two before for Callaway, Cobra, Nike, PXG, TaylorMade, along with PING. That never existed.
109, 160 and 300. Never. Never. Ever, ever. Due to a smaller cross-sectional footprint while the clubface is 40 ° open, I don’t know whether the rises originated from a reduction in drag. If G400 (LST) tickles my amygdala, I don’t know either. What I mean is that 109 and 160 are the gear that I don’t have, and it’s always there. And it was not a swing in isolation. 109 and darn near 160 over and over again. All that and still mostly straight flight of the ball. I know my game, and what happened on the range of PING was ridiculous in the most delightful way imaginable. So roll your eyes at the aerodynamics and if you’d like the stuff about the amygdala, I understand, but I’m a knowledgeable man, I fit fairly well into any club in my pocket, and I’m telling you I’m seeing upwards of 5 MPH in ball speed and improved course size. I can’t imagine much if that doesn’t pique your imagination. In which case, for all of us, I’ve already lost a lot of time.
After it came out, I’ve been gaming the G400 driver, and I love it. It’s incredible forgiveness, and there have been days when I wanted a piece of it. The G400 Limit, somehow, has more.
